A Place Called Blessing

A Place Called Blessing

Where Hurting Ends and Love BeginsBy John Trent with Annette SmithPublished by Thomas Nelson

A Place Called BlessingPlace called blessed: I wish that more time was spent on Josh's time in the foster care system as a teenager instead of jumping from being a child to being 18. When it got to him being on his own though, I couldn't stop reading.  kept wondering when the hurting would stop. I felt sad by the unfairness of life.  I would recommend this book to anyone! Trent's has a partnered ministry with Focus on the Family, called The Blessing Challenge. It provides the readers of his book with an opportunity to do something...  this book was not entirely applicable to me, nor to my wife. However, there were still things we were reminded of and we did plenty of self-evaluations as we read through the book. Honestly, I believe this book is most applicable to parents who feel as if they weren't entirely loved or accepted by their own parents and who worry that they may not show proper love to their own children.  would go as far to recommend that all parents, especially those of younger children, read this book to help them understand the importance of blessing their children. This book would especially make a good gift to first-time expecting parents.

Going Deep

Going Deep

Becoming A Person of Influence

By Gordon MacDonald

Going DeepEvery individual character in the book you can relate to and picture that person in your life. This book can change the way we think, it certainly has changed mine. This book really does give you the opportunity to become a person of influence, and I really think that I am on my way to learning. It will encourage you to grow and become more mature in your Christian walk. I think this would be an awesome idea starter for pastors and their fellowships, but as a mere sheep in the flock of millions, this was a bit too much for me.I think that this is a great book and follows in a great line of other books by Gordon MacDonald. I deeply appreciate that he tells stories, and is incredibly open about his own life and experience. I recommend anything he has published.
Gordon has has written a masterpiece, written with pure love and talent! If you missed this book, then you miss 25% of your christian maturity. A must read!

The Book of ManReadings on the Path to Manhood

By William Bennett

The Book of Man I discovered with delight in this book. And ALL of them are new to my early-teen grandsons. We've got some lost time to make up for, but I'm thankful... Bennet is inspiring to read and renews ones faith!  these selections will benefit, encourage, and inspire him as they do me.The thing that matters is whether he did the crime. We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We all need a Savior. We have all done the crime.  believe this book will be an encouragement to everyone who reads it because it is relevant to all who struggle,  sheds light on the struggles of well known people and how the Lord changed their lives. I never understood what it meant when someone said God healed them or that finding Christ gave them new life. I found Christ in my late 30s and I always find testimony stories uplifting and interesting.  know that seems to be going through something. Which, as I said before, turns out to be everyone, so possibly find some comfort in that. Don't hesitate, this book is wonderful. I recommend it.
