Pershing

PershingCommander of the Great War

By John Perry

"General of the Armies John Joseph "Black Jack" Pershing, GCB, was a general officer in the United States Army who led the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I." In the First World War, however, Pershing played his part without peer--standing alone in his time as history would have it, and with no one to share the fame. "On 15 July 1948, John Joseph Pershing passed away at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. Tributes of the greatest men of our time were given him on the days following his death. But men of the Army will always pay tribute to General John J. Pershing. A life such as his is a challenge to his followers in the military profession, and they have accepted that challenge. John Joseph Pershing, soldier and citizen, will live forever in the memory of the men of our victorious country." I found this book very enjoyable especially we Filipinos, i found out that Peshing has a very important contribution on what we are today. This book is part of the Generals Series. Read this book and discover who really John Pershing is. A man with integrity and a man of valor. Generals won't come this best!

Sherman

Sherman

ShermanThe Ruthless Victor (The Generals Series)

By Agostino von Hassell & Ed Breslin
Published by Thomas Nelson

"William Tecumseh Sherman was an American soldier, businessman, educator and author. Sherman was not an abolitionist before the war and, like others of his time and background, he did not believe in "Negro equality." Before the war, Sherman at times even expressed some sympathy with the view of Southern whites that the black race was benefiting from slavery"  this type of book usually have some shards of sympathy in dealing with the person under study, Sherman will have some insights into his military styles. I'm not a pro-war... A great read for someone who wants another view of Sherman and I could see this being a great resource for the older middle school student who needs to research the Civil War or Sherman himself. It gives a lot of insight into what Sherman's life was like from a young age as he just started out making his military career all the way to the battles that ultimately ended the war. I won't recommended the book but I won't also discourage you to read this.

Very comforting and no doubt that Heaven is for Real! The entire story felt like as father trying to buck up his own faith from his child's experience. I enjoyed reading this book so much; it gave me a vision of who God is and the heart he has for His people to know Him and prepare to meet Him.

The Fight of Our Lives

The Fight of Our LivesKnowing the Enemy, Speaking the Truth, and Choosing to Win the War Against Radical Islam

By William Bennett with Seth Leibsohn
Published by Thomas Nelso

"We loved death more than you love life!" That line struck me right there, whats on their mind going on? "Fight Of Our Lives" is a book written to wake up the world to the dangers of Radical Islam. I'm not anti-muslim but, anti-Muslim sentiment might have peaked, there were six times as many incidents of bias against Jews, as there were against Muslims. As William J. Bennett and Seth Leibsohn show, what needs to happen to be sure this never happens again. And its happening now! What the'ye gonna killed for just a video? I understand them but killing is not a solution, violation is not a solution only way we'll escape their eventual fate is to be informed and this book does an excellent job of doing just that. This is not a book intended to detail every mistake, error, and lapse of judgment for radical Islam. Read this and be ready for the fight of our lives!

By Stefan Swanepoel

"Surviving Your Serengeti" by Stefan Swanepoel;  is a must read in learning how you deal with your surroundings and the people around you. Using the animals and their characteristics made the information fun and easy to digest,  It also challenges readers to set goals and tackle obstacles using their own personal animal styles. I can't say there is anything wrong with the book since I never received it. If you have not read this book I highly recommend it! This Thing of Ours

This Thing of Ours
How Faith Saved My Mafia Marriage
By Cammy Franzese
Published by Thomas Nelson

The life they are a part of is filled with violence and anger and they need the Lord Jesus just like we all do...  in a witness protection or the Mafia killed you, so how did her husband escape this? She had to
have Faith or just be naive to have stuck out the marriage. Maybe my expectations were just to high considering the title of the book. They began seeing each other, dating, and would eventually marry. When she married him, she was young and naive and not really aware of the fact that he was involved in a Mafia family. This is a fascinating, easy read on how a leader in the Mob finds a Christian wife and is eventually chosen by God Almighty to enter a new life as a born-again Christian. t I really want to learn more about. To walk away from millions of dollars and a lifestyle that he had been in his who life to go straight is truly remarkable. I liked this book well enough, and to some people I would think it would be very interesting.
. I say this because most of the lessons being taught can be used in your life. These lessons are life lessons and will help you to live a better and more fulfilling life. The author relates the hardened, unvarnished stories of the most notorious underworld figures in their own words. He then cites the lessons from history that serve as reminders of Santayana's axiom regarding remembering the past.

I Love You to God and Back

I Love You to God and Back
I Love You to God and BackA Mother and Child Can Find Faith and Love Through Bedtime PrayersBy Amanda LambPublished by Thomas Nelson

These prayers and Amanda's reflections make up I Love You to God and Back. I have to admit this book did not end up being the book I set out to read. Each chapter could have been a blog post, and the story could have been read slowly over time. However, to sit down and try to read this book all at once was too much for me.  I love you to God and back illustrates the significance of Bedtime prayer not only for children but parents too. It allows parent and child to reconnect after the events of the day.  Amanda Lamb continues her journey into motherhood when her two girls reach school age and start asking questions about everything from politics to race to religion. They also start noticing things and want to talk about them. . It would have been nice if Lamb had even spent the least bit of effort to try and fill in some of the blanks. I feel she does a solid job laying out the story in a thoughtful and intelligent manner. Only one person knows.
