The Grace Effect

The Grace EffectHow the Power of One Life Can Reverse the Corruption of Unbelief

By Larry Taunton

"The Grace Effect: How the Power of One Life Can Reverse the Corruption of Unbelief" The Grace Effect, by Larry Taunton, will change your mind. Hitchens would've caused me to struggle to get through the book. As it was, the chapters on the history of the Ukraine were difficult. It is a great story and brings up a lot of questions about society as well as the injustices in society and especially in the realm of adoption. It is a great story and brings up a lot of questions about society as well as the injustices in society and especially in the realm of adoption. The Grace Effect, Taunton provides many excellent discussion starters with which to engage those the reader may encounter who question the validity of the Christian faith or who are searching for an understanding of grace. I feel like I have learned a lot and am more informed than before on atheism and socialism.

Moments of TruthUnleashing God's Word One Day at a Time

By John MacArthur

January is "Beginnings", February is "Love", March is "The Cross and Easter", and my favorite, June is "Marriage". John MacArthur really does a great job with each of these special devotionals. This is really a wonderful book for devotion, at any age! Grab this! This book would make a great gift for family and friends or it could even be purchased for personal enjoyment. I highly encourage you to get a copy and see how God can use it in your life.
They are truths that are applicable to our lives and make you really think. I really liked that. It forced me to really get into the Scripture he was referring to and dig deep. It is only by seeing life through our relationship with the Father that we will access and experience the spiritual depths he designed us for. You would Love this.

His style was friendly and personable and I would be comfortable giving this book to anyone as a gift, here are excerpts from his most loved & popular books, and they are catergorized in different subjects (love, hope, etc). This isn't the type of book that I would sit down and read cover to cover. Since the sections are short, it would be great for little bits of reading at a time.

A Shot of Faith (to the Head)

A Shot of Faith (to the Head)Be a Confident Believer in an Age of Cranky Atheists

By Mitch Stokes

The book wasn't so easy to read, engaging and really makes you look inward to your own beliefs to better understand and better come to a conclusion of where you stand in comparison to others. I do suggest that you start reading at the beginning to fully feel the force of his philosophy at the end.  I would still recommend Stokes' book because we as Christians need to learn how to defend and understand our faith to some degree, especially in the relativistic, secular humanistic society we live in today. While this book is clearly embracing Christianity, it will be an interesting read even for someone who does not believe in Christianity because the book lists the most important and strongest arguments against Atheism that the author can think of.

The Christian Zombie Killers Handbook

The Christian Zombie Killers HandbookSlaying the Living Dead Within

By Jeff Kinley

The book takes on 2 forms, episodes and chapters. The episodes are a fiction book about how zombies have entered our modern day life, as seen through the eyes of Ben Forman... I liked the nonfiction parts of "The Christian Zombie Killers Handbook" much more than the fiction - very uncommon for me. I am a very big fan of the horror genre, more specifically books and movies relating to Zombies. If you want to skip the horror fiction portion of this book, read the chapters and skip the 'sessions'. The story was engaging however, surprisingly to me since I generally don't enjoy horror books.  I think it's very helpful, especially to people who aren't used to theological books. e. If you are not willing to be pushed around mentally and theologically, then go for some kinda inspirational books, Max Lucado maybe... The message is one that is relevant to the times and culture.

The Divine Surprise of Adopting My Daughter

By Jennifer Grant

Jennifer Grant beautifully tells the story of her family's journey to adoption-She shares what it was like adopting from another country, I found this book inviting and endearing. was very interesting to read. As someone who hopes to one day adopt I found the book very insightful. Jennifer Grant take you on her family's journey of adoption, in a very real and candid way, but she made me look at things through an entirely different lens, this book would be great for people considering adoption, people curious about the adoption process, family member who have other family members adopting, I would recommend it to anyone; whether they are looking into the process or not. Grant also includes numerous resources on adoption at the back of the book.  I found myself unwilling to put it down, and read it in just a couple of days.

Ascent from DarknessHow Satan's Soldier Became God's Warrior

By Michael Leehan

Michael Leehan, Ex-satanist now, a mighty man of God! I was fascinated with this book from the first page. The first two chapter was the creepiest part of Michael's life, where he embraces satanism. I wasn't able to sleep, it was like, it keeps on flashing no my mind on how he became a satanist. But, this book has brought hope and revelation to all who reads... It will transform you, inspire you, and make you cry. The part that really made in cry was when Leehan has to commit suicide and he was thinking that God is completely lost sight of him. I had to admit that I was a Luke-Warm Christian, this book shots me to head, an eye opener to me. If you don't have a strong faith as Christian... I would have to say, don't read this until you are...
"Remember, no matter how badly you think you've sinned or what kind of mess you may have made of your life, it probably pales in comparison to mine. Never give up, never lose hope. Jesus Christ specializes in fixing broken messes just like us." I love this line, really true to my life.  This book unlocks the mystery of evil and darkness that plagues this earth. This book also reveals the mystery of satanism and evil activities in this world! The Christian has nothing to fear of, our God is faithful and true, His love is plentiful, and He is with us. Pick this book! You have to read it now!

I love how she payed for what she steal, that was totally entertaining. Good sense of humor. I would recommend reading one chapter a day, more like a devotional, instead of reading the book start to finish. Luci's love for others and God shows through this book. The book is organized into 50 short chapters, only 2-3 pages each, its not a hard to read at all, in fact I've read this for a week.

Constantly Craving

How to Make Sense of Always Wanting More

By Marilyn Meberg

Published by: Thomas Nelson

I can overcome my own Constant Cravings... It is a very good book to read. It is very easy to read and follow along. I felt that each chapter was very explained and thorough until this was approached. This book is filled with scripture to back up every point she makes in a way that gently guides us to the source of Life- Jesus. This book has a very good sense of inspiration, its been in and out of my little bookshelves. I would have to say that this is a must read book to everyone.  It was encouraging to have an author address so many aspects where we often feel we're the only ones wanting more! Billy Graham in Quotes

Billy Graham in Quotes

By Franklin Graham

Every quote is right on for guidance in living each day. They are written with love and presented so that anyone can find a quote that is appropriate for every day life. "Every graveyard and every cemetery testify that the Bible is true." I love this line, its direct to the point and a shot to head.  A book that stays on my shelf forever. Read this and be inspired. Billy Graham really has met the great and the good, and yet he comes across as a very humble. A book is that prayer and Bible study are the foundation for the Christian life and the way in which we will grow, mature and learn to know God better. There are tons of quotes listed in this book, I highly recommend it!

Pershing

PershingCommander of the Great War

By John Perry

"General of the Armies John Joseph "Black Jack" Pershing, GCB, was a general officer in the United States Army who led the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I." In the First World War, however, Pershing played his part without peer--standing alone in his time as history would have it, and with no one to share the fame. "On 15 July 1948, John Joseph Pershing passed away at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. Tributes of the greatest men of our time were given him on the days following his death. But men of the Army will always pay tribute to General John J. Pershing. A life such as his is a challenge to his followers in the military profession, and they have accepted that challenge. John Joseph Pershing, soldier and citizen, will live forever in the memory of the men of our victorious country." I found this book very enjoyable especially we Filipinos, i found out that Peshing has a very important contribution on what we are today. This book is part of the Generals Series. Read this book and discover who really John Pershing is. A man with integrity and a man of valor. Generals won't come this best!

Sherman

Sherman

ShermanThe Ruthless Victor (The Generals Series)

By Agostino von Hassell & Ed Breslin
Published by Thomas Nelson

"William Tecumseh Sherman was an American soldier, businessman, educator and author. Sherman was not an abolitionist before the war and, like others of his time and background, he did not believe in "Negro equality." Before the war, Sherman at times even expressed some sympathy with the view of Southern whites that the black race was benefiting from slavery"  this type of book usually have some shards of sympathy in dealing with the person under study, Sherman will have some insights into his military styles. I'm not a pro-war... A great read for someone who wants another view of Sherman and I could see this being a great resource for the older middle school student who needs to research the Civil War or Sherman himself. It gives a lot of insight into what Sherman's life was like from a young age as he just started out making his military career all the way to the battles that ultimately ended the war. I won't recommended the book but I won't also discourage you to read this.

The Fight of Our Lives

The Fight of Our LivesKnowing the Enemy, Speaking the Truth, and Choosing to Win the War Against Radical Islam

By William Bennett with Seth Leibsohn
Published by Thomas Nelso

"We loved death more than you love life!" That line struck me right there, whats on their mind going on? "Fight Of Our Lives" is a book written to wake up the world to the dangers of Radical Islam. I'm not anti-muslim but, anti-Muslim sentiment might have peaked, there were six times as many incidents of bias against Jews, as there were against Muslims. As William J. Bennett and Seth Leibsohn show, what needs to happen to be sure this never happens again. And its happening now! What the'ye gonna killed for just a video? I understand them but killing is not a solution, violation is not a solution only way we'll escape their eventual fate is to be informed and this book does an excellent job of doing just that. This is not a book intended to detail every mistake, error, and lapse of judgment for radical Islam. Read this and be ready for the fight of our lives!

This Thing of Ours

This Thing of Ours
How Faith Saved My Mafia Marriage
By Cammy Franzese
Published by Thomas Nelson

The life they are a part of is filled with violence and anger and they need the Lord Jesus just like we all do...  in a witness protection or the Mafia killed you, so how did her husband escape this? She had to
have Faith or just be naive to have stuck out the marriage. Maybe my expectations were just to high considering the title of the book. They began seeing each other, dating, and would eventually marry. When she married him, she was young and naive and not really aware of the fact that he was involved in a Mafia family. This is a fascinating, easy read on how a leader in the Mob finds a Christian wife and is eventually chosen by God Almighty to enter a new life as a born-again Christian. t I really want to learn more about. To walk away from millions of dollars and a lifestyle that he had been in his who life to go straight is truly remarkable. I liked this book well enough, and to some people I would think it would be very interesting.
. I say this because most of the lessons being taught can be used in your life. These lessons are life lessons and will help you to live a better and more fulfilling life. The author relates the hardened, unvarnished stories of the most notorious underworld figures in their own words. He then cites the lessons from history that serve as reminders of Santayana's axiom regarding remembering the past.

I Love You to God and Back

I Love You to God and Back
I Love You to God and BackA Mother and Child Can Find Faith and Love Through Bedtime PrayersBy Amanda LambPublished by Thomas Nelson

These prayers and Amanda's reflections make up I Love You to God and Back. I have to admit this book did not end up being the book I set out to read. Each chapter could have been a blog post, and the story could have been read slowly over time. However, to sit down and try to read this book all at once was too much for me.  I love you to God and back illustrates the significance of Bedtime prayer not only for children but parents too. It allows parent and child to reconnect after the events of the day.  Amanda Lamb continues her journey into motherhood when her two girls reach school age and start asking questions about everything from politics to race to religion. They also start noticing things and want to talk about them. . It would have been nice if Lamb had even spent the least bit of effort to try and fill in some of the blanks. I feel she does a solid job laying out the story in a thoughtful and intelligent manner. Only one person knows.

A Place Called Blessing

A Place Called Blessing

Where Hurting Ends and Love BeginsBy John Trent with Annette SmithPublished by Thomas Nelson

A Place Called BlessingPlace called blessed: I wish that more time was spent on Josh's time in the foster care system as a teenager instead of jumping from being a child to being 18. When it got to him being on his own though, I couldn't stop reading.  kept wondering when the hurting would stop. I felt sad by the unfairness of life.  I would recommend this book to anyone! Trent's has a partnered ministry with Focus on the Family, called The Blessing Challenge. It provides the readers of his book with an opportunity to do something...  this book was not entirely applicable to me, nor to my wife. However, there were still things we were reminded of and we did plenty of self-evaluations as we read through the book. Honestly, I believe this book is most applicable to parents who feel as if they weren't entirely loved or accepted by their own parents and who worry that they may not show proper love to their own children.  would go as far to recommend that all parents, especially those of younger children, read this book to help them understand the importance of blessing their children. This book would especially make a good gift to first-time expecting parents.
